The flooring company Välinge, which was founded in 1993, is known for having been the first to start with click-lock flooring and eliminate the need for adhesive.
Now American risk capital firm KKR is selling its minority holding of 49.8% in Välinge to the Danish investment company Kirkbi. Kirkbi is controlled by the Kristiansen family, with Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen at the lead, and is also the majority owner in Lego, which Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen’s grandfather Ole Kirk Kristiansen started in 1932.
The purchase price is unknown but Välinge has been valued at over one billion US dollars.
