Daimler head Dieter Zetsche sees potential cooperation between the two automobile companies, Daimler and Volvo Cars, now that they have the same owner via Geely.
Geely’s Li Shufu has commented that he believes there could be cooperation within digital technology, online services and new energy alternatives. However, AB Volvo Cars CEO Håkan Samuelsson has dismissed any form of collaboration since the two are competitors. As the smaller player, the Volvo boss has concerns that the carmaker could be out-manoeuvred by Mercedes-Benz, which is almost four times as large.
Dieter Zetsche, who met DI in Geneva, agrees they are competitors, but “we are competitors among many”. He does not believe there could be collaboration on the trucks side. (DI: 8, SvD bus: 4-5)
