In 2016, Bill Gates initiated the fund Breakthrough Energy Ventures (BEV), which is to invest over SEK 9 billion in new energy technology to counteract climate change. Several of the world’s richest people have also contributed to the fund, including Amazon founder Jeff Bezoz, Alibaba’s Jack Ma, Softbank’s Masayoshi Son and Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg.
DI now reports that the fund is looking outside North American for the first time via a collaboration with First North-noted Climeon. At the same time, SEK 115 million is being invested in the financing company Baseload Capital, which is owned by Climeon, Gullspång Invest, LMK and Blue.
Climeon has developed a technology that uses energy from waste heating and geothermal heat and transforms it into electricity.
