EIB wants to stop investing in fossil fuels

8/1/2019

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is proposing investing more in environmentally-friendly technology from the end of 2020. This means that it would completely stop investing in fossil fuel energy projects, reports Ekot.
Sweden’s Finance Minister Magdalena Andersson (S) is positive about the proposal: “I think that it is a good and interesting proposal that we should look at more closely. From the Swedish side we have pursued not investing in that which is not sustainable in the long term.”
On 10 September, the EU’s finance ministers will take a stance on the EIB’s proposal. Magdalena Andersson tells Ekot that she believes there are good chances for it.
