During a visit to New York, Defence Minister Peter Hultqvist commented that he is opposed to a sale of the state telecoms company Telia. The defence minister believes it would be damaging to Sweden’s security interests.
However, in DI today, Telia’s chair, Marie Ehrling, and CEO, Johan Dennelind, write that a majority in the Riksdag support the state selling its holding in Telia, despite that, according to the government, this could pose a risk national security.
They write, it is important to emphasise that security within the company is not linked to ownership, rather it is via rules and legislation that national security is protected. (30/3 DI: 12, 1/4 DI: 4)
