US sanctions on Russian companies may affect Kabul, a Swedish producer of aluminium. Among others, the sanctions target oligarch Oleg Deripaska, majority owner of Russian company Rusal, which in turn owns Kabul in Sundsvall.
If there is no change in the US sanctions, which become effective on 12 November 2018, Kabul may have to close since all assets will be frozen. This would leave 500 people without a job.
Enterprise Minister Mikael Damberg describes the situation as grave and says Sweden’s caretaker government is now doing all it can to raise the issue with the Americans.
